Burgers are delicious and everyone knows it. Here are a few reasons that this particular vegan burger is outstanding:

  • oil-free
  • gluten-free (without a bun)
  • high in fiber
  • loaded with vitamins and minerals
  • high in protein
  •  “meaty” texture
  • savory flavor
  • not too moist, and not too dry
  • it’s perfect

The ingredients will need to be blended for at least 30 seconds, maybe 45-60 depending on your food processor. I used a Ninja and blended for 40 seconds. DO NOT blend so much that you puree the ingredients. Leaving small chunks and tiny pieces is ideal.

This vegan black bean burger recipe is also grillable and freezable! (if that is a word?) For grilling, you may want to spray the grill with a bit of oil, just to be sure it doesn’t stick to the grill. For freezing, place the cooked patties in a sealed container. When you are ready to eat a burger, simply heat a patty in the microwave for one minute and, voila! Quick and easy healthy vegan meal!

Of course, you can top your delicious vegan burger with anything you like. I suggest some guacamole and hot sauce. Or pickles and mayo…or vegan burger sauce is always a winner (2 parts vegan mayo, 1 part ketchup)
